Sign up online or over the phone. No credit check, no equipment to buy, and nothing installed at your home or apartment.

2

A Maryland solar project powers the grid

Your subscription is matched to a share of a solar project's output, feeding the same grid that serves Frostburg.

3

Credits land on your Potomac Edison bill

Your solar credits appear directly on the Potomac Edison bill you already receive, lowering what you owe. Everything shows up on that one bill, with nothing separate to pay.

Who qualifies

Every residential account in Frostburg is eligible.

If you're a Potomac Edison residential customer, you can enroll at 10%. Maryland also reserves 40% of every community solar project for income-qualified households, who receive 20% instead. Many families are surprised to learn they're eligible, and you don't need to be receiving assistance to qualify.

40% of capacity reserved for income-qualified residents

You may qualify for 20% if…

  • You participate in a state or federal assistance program such as SNAP, LIHEAP, Medicaid, or housing assistance.
  • Your household income falls within Maryland's qualifying guidelines, even if you don't receive any assistance.

Residential accounts only. Renters and homeowners both welcome. Call (888) 420-9831 and we'll confirm eligibility in a few minutes.

Questions

What Frostburg residents ask us most.

Do I need to install solar panels on my home?

No. Nothing is installed at your home and no equipment is attached to your property. You're subscribing to a share of a Maryland solar project, which is why renters can participate just as easily as homeowners.

What does it cost to join?

Nothing. No sign-up fee, no installation cost, no credit check, no long-term commitment, and no cancellation fee. Your savings appear directly on the Potomac Edison bill you already receive.

How does the billing work?

Everything happens on the Potomac Edison bill you already receive. Potomac Edison uses consolidated billing, so your solar credits and the cost of your subscription both appear on that one bill and net out automatically.

Your subscription is always priced below the value of the credits you receive, by 20% for income-qualified households and 10% for all other residential accounts. The credits are always worth more than you are charged for them, and that difference is your savings. You will never receive a separate bill from Solar Simplified.

How do I know if I'm income-qualified?

You may qualify through a state or federal assistance program such as SNAP, LIHEAP, Medicaid, or housing assistance, or through household income alone even without receiving assistance. Maryland sets the thresholds. Call (888) 420-9831 and our team will confirm it with you in a few minutes.

Does anything change about my Potomac Edison service?

No. Potomac Edison remains your utility and handles your service exactly as they do today. Community solar doesn't switch your provider or affect reliability. Maryland's Community Solar Energy Generating Systems program is established in state law and overseen by the Maryland Public Service Commission.

What if I move or want to cancel?

There's no long-term commitment and no cancellation fee. If you move or your circumstances change, contact our support team at (888) 420-9831 and we'll walk you through the options.
